Some Thoughts Of The Day, While Winding It Down For A Couple Of Weeks . . .

Well my friends the time has come to shut the studio down for a couple of weeks, but we'll be back before you know it. The break is probably a good thing. I have never been more focused and worked so hard at anything in my life as I have on this record. A little time away from it other than a day or two here and there will be beneficial. Jimmy's working through the things he has to take care of and now I have a few things to do myself.

Once we both return we'll probably be on our biggest roll yet. A lot has gotten done and there is so much more to do. We have to finish up what we've started recording and we have about twenty more songs ready to start. We have also talked about doing some more writing for the record and I can guarantee you  - we will. Then we'll have to record all of that. When you're making what could possibly be considered a classic record somewhere down the line, you just can't have enough great songs to choose from. We'll probably do some more writing with our friend - hit songwriter Andre Pessis and possibly another big name writer who you would definitely know that has written some very big hits. He is the guitarist of a very successful 80's band, but who will remain un-named at this time.

We've already made plans with him to write together, it's just a matter of schedules.
Aside from that, who knows what else will come about in the coming weeks and months as we progress towards completing this double album!

There's more than just the recording to have a break from too . . .

In the background we have continued all along doing other business, working on various things through all of this. We've had some interesting things come up. We've had a few fall through. We've got a few we're in the middle of and more come up all the time.  It is best not to talk about most things until it's a done deal, though I believe you'd be very entertained by the details and process of it all. Through it all we remain focused and uncompromising.

Since April of 2014 things have been non stop for us and so much has happened, but as we've said before - most of it goes unseen. The only frustrating thing that has happened to us is all of the tour plans that have come along and fallen through. That and some of the unscrupulous people that seem to flock to this business and us. We get approached by so many people for various reasons that we've gotten pretty good at weeding through them quickly, separating the real from the whatever . . . That part is most often more hilarious than it is frustrating, but let's just say we're pretty good at being blunt!

We play the good cop / bad cop a lot. I'm usually always the bad cop and tell it just how it really is! I like that! lol  In general I can be quiet and shy, but in business I can be very direct, sometimes too direct. That's where Jimmy's good cop comes in handy! No matter what role we play though, we think exactly alike and are always in sync. We've had many come to us and try the divide and conquer routine and they always leave with their tail between their legs. We see 'em coming a mile away. Most seem to think we're new to this and when they are the ones most often than not, that get educated - It's pretty damn funny!

We have at times gotten weary and sidetracked (We're only human), But we know the business as well as anyone. We know where we come from, exactly who we are, what we want and don't want and exactly where we're headed. So when people come along who want to try and tell us certain things it can be a really rude awakening for them. This isn't our first rodeo - know what I mean?

Our thought is always - Show me the money!! Unless you're putting your money where your mouth is and getting it done where it counts, then you have no vote!

Our philosophy is very simple when dealing with people in business. YOU do your job and WE'LL handle the ART. You'd be utterly surprised how many don't get that and absolutely cannot grasp that concept no matter how many different ways you spell it out to them! lol
Here's the real kicker - 99.9% of them are completely unqualified to have any part in the making of the music or art anyway, but will still insist over and over that we need to do this or that to be successful. No, we don't!

There are a million different ways to make it successful in the music business despite what some will say. Think about this - The only bands or artist that truly make it huge and stay there are the ones who refused to follow others and did their own thing - no matter what was popular at the moment.
I can lay out all the facts that back up my theory, but I'd be writing forever. lol

Paul Stanley of Kiss once said - "The best advice I can give anyone would be not to take any. If we would've listened to everyone else we would've never made it and achieved what we did!".

Legal advice is one thing, but everything else is completely subjective, any way you look at it.
Besides, just look at the state of the industry and then try to tell me anyone has it totally figured out!

So in any case, this business side of all of this is usually very eventful to say the least and I wish you could know and see some of it. It would definitely give you some perspective . . .

As far as touring goes, I believe everything happens for a reason and that when the time is right, the perfect tour will come along. For example, if we had been touring all this time like we had intended we probably wouldn't have the record we're in the middle of right now. Or maybe it wouldn't be turning out as good. Who knows!?

I'm positive that everything will be just as it should be. We'll finish this record and we will tour one way or another - I promise you that! When we do, we will be out there forever!
We'll have our successes and our setbacks. There will probably be a few surprises along the way too, I'm sure.

The only thing that matters right now is getting back to the record in a couple of weeks and doing the best work we can on "Life Happens Here" . . .

We sincerely hope that you are enjoying the blogs of  the making of the album and various other ramblings. Hopefully, you will return with us for chapter two. It will be even better than the first I think. Until then, take care . . .

- Bret.
