These Four walls....

Sometimes, you have to go outside and get some air and a little sun...  Listening to Papa Roach's new CD today loving how the were able to grow as a band yet again.  It's inspiring to see these guys constantly elevating the music and trying new things.  You never know where the inspiration will come from and most of the time in our camp it is within the 4 walls of the studio working as a team with Bret on these songs.   There is a moment when you know you have something really special and the hair on the back of your neck stands up to let you know that you may have captured the emotion and a moment in time.  Very cool stuff.

The down side of the four walls is that you begin to get a little cabin fever and a need to get out of the studio and see what the rest of the world is up to.  Your friends are all planning vacations and sunning by the pool while enjoying their favorite cocktail while we pine away in the studio.   The truth from my perspective is that I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.   I have never felt so inspired in my entire life.  This is the next evolution of the band and where it is headed is a whole new level for everyone involved in this recording.

Bret really nailed the guitars on "Bleed Your Name" and the song really came alive after his parts.   Now we are elevating the song again with new parts and finding ways to properly convey the emotion of the song.  You don't know what you might get when you start recording a song but one is always hopeful that it will capture the vibe of the song that really tells the story.  Both Bret and I connected with this song and I can't wait to get in and sing this one in the next studio.  The excitement builds with each song we work on and each song takes on a life of its own.  Creating the song is simply the reason we do all of this.  The music business requires a special breed passion, hard headed nature and perseverance as well as a strong desire to make great music.  There is a great sense of pride that comes from delivering a great performance and writing, recording and producing a great product.   We are gaining momentum and inspiration is all around us at every step of the process.   I am excited to see what each day will bring to the each of the songs.

I need to step out of the studio and clear my head so I can focus properly on the next song and give it my full attention.  Where there is a will, there is most certainly a way to make it possible.
