Well, today for me was spent primarily preparing for guitars. Had to get the Piano out of the way and put new strings on a few of the guitars- A couple Les Paul's, a couple Strat's for starters and a Gibson, Hummingbird acoustic. At this point I'm beat and I'm just reviewing what we've done so far . . .
I'm very happy with it even at this early stage.
We have been putting in 10 to 16 hour days most days and working in three studios from here to San Diego. No, we don't have day jobs - this IS our job. We usually take the weekends off to recoup.
Sometimes I still find myself working even then. We truly live and breathe what we do and this record is no exception.
We began writing for this record last June. Jimmy and myself have co-written everything. We wrote some things with hit songwriter Andre Pessis also and we are going to be writing with another big name songwriter here soon. There will be way too many songs to choose from for this record and none of them are old or from our extensive back catalog. They are all brand new from June 2014 on.
This record will essentially be recorded in it's entirety twice. Once as full blown pre-production demos of about fifty songs. Then again with our Producer Johnny Lima where we'll do about 25 to 30 of them. The double album and additional singles will be selected out of those. Some of the demo work will undoubtedly end up on the actual record.
We'll find some creative ways to use some of the left over tracks as exclusive Fan Club downloads, etc. We will also be shopping certain songs for other artist' to record.
Back at it on Monday . . .
